The sumptuous Madlena Art Palace, a temple of culture and art in itself in our country and beyond, covering the area of more than 7,000 square meters of family land owned by the Zepter spouses, was solemnly opened on 19 September 2022 in the Belgrade area of Dedinje.
The Palace, which is but another in the range of arts patronage ventures of Mrs. Madlena Zepter and her gifts to the country, is aimed at providing persons in culture with a broad range of possibilities for implementation of their ideas: from exhibitions through chamber music concerts and theatrical performances to organization of literary evenings and film screenings, etc.
The glamourous opening ceremony was attended by numerous guests from different spheres of public life: diplomats, politicians, actors, artists, musicians, journalists, and sports persons, who had the opportunity to enjoy rich and versatile artistic programme that evening.
Following the welcoming speech of Mrs. Madlena Zepter, the Palace was officially opened with the exhibition of unique chairs created by the Italian artist Carla Tolomeo, under the title: “Would you like to sit on a work of art?” Playing with sculptural forms, lines, areas, volumes, proportions, and colours, the artist developed the unique seats. Her armchairs, which encircle the whole stage area, are designed as exceptionally attractive works of art. The armchairs were purchased, which means that they will remain as a permanent visual element of the small theatre.
That evening, the guests could also enjoy a string quartet concert, as well as arias sung by Italian opera stars Fabio Armiliato, Silvia Colombini, Gianluca Sciarpelletti, and Marika Lichter.
For the very end of the ceremony, a cocktail party was organized in the garden and the glass house, when the guests could enjoy synchronized swimming performed by winners of numerous awards which took place in the swimming pool which is an integral part of the Madlena Art Palace.
