In the very beginning of 2023, on 18 January, an evening was held in the Madlena Art Palace dedicated to our renowned writer David Albahari. The event was organized on the occasion of an important jubilee, 50 years as of the publishing of his first book, the collection of poems “Porodično vreme” (“Family Time”). Albahari is one of the most translated modern domestic writers. His works have been translated in as many as 18 languages of the world. He has won numerous awards, domestic and European.
Thanks to his translations, readers in former Yugoslavia, and later in Serbia, heard of numerous foreign books and authors for the first time.
Albahari rarely appears in public, because, as he says, he likes to be an invisible writer. However, he did come to the Madlena Art Palace.
On that evening, beside Albahari, the audience in the Palace also had the opportunity to listen to contemporaries and friends of this great author: Gojko Tešić, historian of literature, Žarko Radaković, translator and writer, and Svetislav Basara, writer.
