Promotion of the book of dramas by Zlatko Paković, theatrical director and playwright, was held at the Grand Gallery of the Madlena Art Palace on Friday 19 April. The audience attending the promotion comprised his colleagues, friends, artists, and admirers of his artistic endeavor, who wanted to be directly informed about his dramas which are somehow provocative, featuring sensitive, but perpetually current social topics. The collections of dramas were also promoted in the books “Dodekalog” and “Jeretička liturgija” (The Heretic Liturgy) published by Zepter Book World.
The “Dodekalog” is a collection of 12 dramas, while the “Jeretička liturgjija” comprises 10 dramatic pieces, including: Ibsen’s “An Enemy of the People as a Brecht’s Teaching-Play“; Backwater Philosophy; Othello the Illegal Liturgy; Capitalism, Presented in Geometric Order; Don Qujote, or what Windmills are Today and from whence the Wind Blows; Vox Dei, Civil Disobedience; Srebrenica. When We, the Killed, Rise; The Church of Bosnia; Pope Francis Fights with his Angel; Krleža, or what are Flags to us.
The guests who spoke about his originality and courage which have accompanied his artistic work so far were: Agata Juniku, part-time professor at the Zagreb Academy of Drama Arts Department for dramaturgy, who has, for a range of years, researched and studied contemporary theories of performing, MS Branislava Ilić, dramatist and playwright with rich theatrical experience, Mladen Bićanić, journalist and theatrical critic exceptionally familiar with Zlatko’s work, who described his art in the following manner: “That is not the theatre of shallow provocations, but the theatre of deep ethical challenges”. Ivan Jeftović, actor, who has cooperated with Paković on multiple occasions, when working of the plays: Vox Dei, Civil Disobedience; Srebrenica-When We, the Killed, Rise also took floor. Both of these pieces are interesting dramas with strong political background, and it is doubtless that his plays present a voice raised in situations when the society keeps most silent.
Following the discussion and comments of the participants, the author Zlatko Paković addressed those present. The discussion was moderated by Slavka Ilić, manageress of the Zepter Book World book store.
In the end, the curious audience had several questions, thus the whole event was concluded with a dialogue between the writer and visitors.
