On the horizon of Serbian modern art, it is possible to make out several important individuals who stood for and represented different, frequently even opposed trends, and who, through their activity, acquired the importance of exponents of character features of the period in artistic circles, while permanently enriching Serbian culture. Placed one by another, they illuminate concepts of modernization of Serbian art. A large number of painters resided in France, as Paris was the main artistic stronghold of 20 century.
In the Antique Museum, Serbian art is presented through an imposing number of 20 century paintings, primarily by Mladen Josić, but other great painters whose works complete the collection of Serbian modern painting as well, including: Beta Vukanović, Milo Milunović, Petar Lubarda, Marko Čelebonović, etc. Beside paintings, artistic work is also expressed through the art of contemporary design of tables made of wrought iron by artist Jelena Milošević, and sculptures of dragons made in maiolica by sculptress Jelena Miletić.
